We all experience stress-producing situations on a daily basis. While most are minor, quickly managed and then forgotten, some situations are sufficiently difficult to deal with that, rather than confronting eliminating or adjusting to the source of the stress, we choose to set up protective blocks instead. We usually do this without consciously realizing it, and left unaddressed, these blocks can, over time, gain strength and create problems for us in our everyday lives.
By means of Integrative Mind-Body Therapy (IMBT) practices I can assist you in becoming clear on where you are at present, and can help you in your setting of goals for where you want to be. Employing tools such as Applied Kinesiology (muscle testing) we can learn what your particular blocks are by accessing the unconscious beliefs/patterns that may be keeping you stuck and unable to move forward.
As a Holistic Counselor I utilize a combination of holistic and cognitive modalities that are effective in helping you to overcome “negative” emotions and dysfunctional patterns of behavior such as procrastination, limiting beliefs, self-sabotage, anxiety, fear etc.which keep us stuck in old patterns and prevent us from moving freely into our lives, to be our best selves and to “live out loud”.
To help you achieve your goals, and to help you let go of and heal the cause of your blocks, I use a variety of Energy Psychology Interventions, for example: Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) (sometimes called Meridian Tapping); Healing From the Body Level Up (HBLU); Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT); and Natural Bio-Destressing (NBD).
Our bodies and minds cannot be in fight/flight/freeze mode and relaxed simultaneously. But by stimulating the human bio-energy systems through working with meridians and bio-fields we can calm the brain’s stress center, and simultaneously, through the use of an integrative approach of Holistic Counseling interventions such as those that follow, neutralize the emotional response (stress, anxiety, fear etc.) that we feel around a particular event or situation (past or present).
Holistic Counseling interventions that may be used include:
- Traditional psychology approaches – including focused awareness and mindfulness, imaginal exposure to traumatic memories, and cognitive reframing.
- Acupressure points and energy meridians – utilized to calm anxiety, stress, fear, grief, anger, etc. by activating nerve endings that calm the fight/flight/freeze signals in the amygdala (the brain’s stress center).
- Applied Kinesiology – our body’s built-in “lie detector” can help us tap into our unconscious and discern true/false, right/wrong, good/bad, what is healthy or unhealthy for us.
By using an integrative approach, holistic/cognitive interventions like these, it’s possible to deactivate the stress response, activate the calming reflex, neutralize stressful emotional responses to traumatic events, and bring the brain and emotions back into balance. In this way you may again think, feel and act to the fullness of your abilities while maximizing your sense of well-being.
